Resort Hotel
Upon opening, Ammos Hotel became one of the most stylish hotels on Mykonos with a rare beachfront location that's unmatched on the island. A traditional white stucco façade with elements of beach design leads to a lobby infused with sandy-gray color tones that mix native stone floors with rafter ceiling. Elements of sand and water trickle throughout the reception with small lounge arranged in slipcovered lounge furnishings and steady beat of lighthouse music as a well as a crowd that's dressed for their Instagram beach close-ups. The property offers more of a beachy-resort feel than either Cavo Tagoo or perennial Belvedere with two pools as well as a managed beach club where a lounger is always available for in-house guests. In terms of dining, two eateries include Kuzina restaurant with its Greek cuisine and ala carte sushi menu that's a spin-off of the famous Athens restaurant by chef Aris Tsanaklidis.
The Room
Upon first sight of the 50-rooms offered at Ammos they reminded us of the initial Grace Mykonos with its playful spin of Cycladic architecture and colors. Entry-level double rooms are loft-style design spaces with its warm sandy colors and open-flow bathrooms that allow that eye a more spacious feel. Polish concrete floors yield to built-in bookshelves and tables that make up the bulk of furnishings in these non-view ground-floor units. Seafront units are as they sound with direct sea views and more spacious footprint that are a bit more generous in size. Suites offer separate living and dining room with even cushier Ammos Suite strutting a location right on the sand that’s perhaps the best hotel room real estate on Mykonos.
